Slate

Slate is a very soft and absorbent stone.  It takes raw talent and skill to properly correct issues or enhance slate.  Stone Buff's master technicians are certified and trained to handle the delicate needs of slate and will also help reduce the maintenance for your slate surfaces.

Color Enhancing is a technique offered which will give your slate that 'wet look' without necessarily adding shine. The colors pop and the stone looks much more vibrant. (Samples can be provided updon request)

Many times mortar, thinset or grout are not cleaned quickly enough and can leave a poor aesthetic look to a slate surface.  Stone Buff, LLC's attention to detail, skill and products can help eliminate this problem and create a beautiful surface.

The natural colors and textures of slate are essential to its beauty. Dirt, mineral residue, wax and other conditions obscure the natural stone.

A thorough professional cleaning with appropriate, conditioning cleaners will both remove the accumulated dirt and it will add minerals that are stripped from the stone by daily use.

The desirable texture is unaltered by the use of appropriate natural bristle brushes. A combination of machines and hand tools loosen residue without removing the natural texture. Removing water and waste promptly with water vacuums prevents the soil from penetrating the stone.

After the stone is thoroughly cleaned, a penetrating sealer fills the microscopic crevices that allow liquids and dissolved soils to stain natural stone. A wax or other surface coating is NOT recommended and can create a maintenance nightmare for you.

An annual, light, professional cleaning and renewed application of the sealer will keep most stone looking as good as new under most conditions.
